FRV Flow Regulating Radiator Valve

Balancing a heating system should be simple, but in practice it’s usually slow, awkward and rarely accurate. The Flow Regulating Valve (FRV) solves that. Designed to remove the hassle from radiator balancing, the FRV gives you a quick, consistent and reliable way to set flow rates without guesswork.

Install the FRV in place of the radiator’s lockshield valve. The clear visual indicator makes it easy to set the required flow rate and check it instantly.

Even heat, lower running costs: When radiators are balanced properly, you avoid overheating some rooms while others stay cold. The FRV helps create an even and comfortable temperature throughout the home, regardless of the heat source.

Works with modern and traditional systems: FRVs are especially useful on heat pump systems – including open-loop and weather-compensated setups – but they also support efficient operation on gas boilers by helping to maintain cooler return temperatures for better condensing performance.

Flexible to your setup: If you already use TRVs, that’s fine. The FRV replaces only the lockshield valve, so TRVs can remain in place and continue doing their job where variable room gains are an issue.

The Glow Group’s guidance

• Fit an FRV on each radiator (new or existing) by replacing the lockshield.
• TRVs can stay in place at the opposite end of the radiator if required.
• Use the flow chart to choose the correct setting based on radiator position.
• Start closest to the heat source and work your way around the property.
• Once set, confirm the flow visually, fit the protective caps and the system is ready.
